Force and torque model sensitivity and coarse graining for bedload-dominated sediment transport

چکیده
We present results from Euler–Lagrange simulations of turbulent flow over an erodible monodisperse bed particles at a shear Reynolds number Reτ=180. The Galileo Ga and the ratio Shields to critical Θ/θcr were varied in range 11.4 29.8 1.32 5.98, respectively. Two drag force models investigated along with influence lift, particle rotation, tangential collision forces for each model. Both give similar as far mean flux stress are concerned, however we find that excluding without ignoring associated collisional force, significantly reduces little on stress. On other hand, when both rotation not taken into account, is practically unchanged, but excess slightly increases compared case where effects considered. also lift substantially flux. Additionally, show importance spatial coarse graining time averaging Euler–Euler quantify reduction scatter space dependent variables such sediment flux, stress, surface fluid velocities.

Effective force coarse-graining.
An effective force coarse-graining (EF-CG) method is presented in this paper that complements the more general multiscale coarse-graining (MS-CG) methodology. The EF-CG method determines effective pairwise forces between coarse-grained sites by averaging over the atomistic forces between the corresponding atomic groups in configurations sampled from equilibrium all-atom molecular dynamics simul...
متن کاملCoarse graining and control theory model reduction
We explain a method, inspired by control theory model reduction and interpolation theory, that rigorously establishes the types of coarse graining that are appropriate for systems with quadratic, generalized Hamiltonians. For such systems, general conditions are given that establish when local coarse grainings should be valid. Interestingly, our analysis provides a reduction method that is vali...
متن کاملCoarse graining of force fields for metal-organic frameworks.
We have adapted our genetic algorithm based optimization approach, originally developed to generate force field parameters from quantum mechanic reference data, to derive a first coarse grained force field for a MOF, taking the atomistic MOF-FF as a reference. On the example of the copper paddle-wheel based HKUST-1, a maximally coarse grained model, using a single bead for each three and four c...
متن کاملCoarse-graining intermittent intracellular transport: Two- and three-dimensional models.
Viruses and other cellular cargo that lack locomotion must rely on diffusion and cellular transport systems to navigate through a biological cell. Indeed, advances in single particle tracking have revealed that viral motion alternates between (a) diffusion in the cytoplasm and (b) active transport along microtubules. This intermittency makes quantitative analysis of trajectories difficult. Ther...
متن کاملCoarse graining
Multiscale simulations For nearly all systems of interest to us, the most transferrable and fundamental description of matter is one that invokes quantum mechanics. At the highest level of accuracy, this amounts to solving Schrodinger’s equation for all of the subatomic particles in a system. Computationally, many approximations need to be made in order to use ab initio methods, and even these ...
